Goose Dripfield Summer Tour Review Dillion, CO 8/17/22
Goose played one of the best shows of their Summer Tour last night on their second night at Dillion Amphitheater in Dillion, CO. Even though I wasn’t in attendance, I could tell that there was definitely some “Colorado Magic” in the air. The show began with a solid version of one of my favorite songs the band plays “California Magic.” The band followed that up by playing the song “Switchin’”. The next song “Borne”, was one of my favorite jams of the night extending to about 27 minutes. I’m always impressed how bands are able to take a song to places where the song doesn’t even sound like itself anymore, but still come back to the original feel at the end. After that, the band smoothly transitioned into the bluesy “Dr. Darkness.” Goose closed the first set with the best “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” I’ve ever heard.
Set two opened with a relatively mellow “Honeybee” followed by a dark “Wysteria Lane”, which had the crowd up and dancing in the Colorado night. The most surprising song in the second set was “Your Ocean” which is a song the band doesn’t play very often. Before that, the band covered “It’s My Life” by Talk Talk. The jams continued with a stellar version of a fan-favorite “Madhuvan” to close set 2. The band encored with “Turned Clouds”, the first track off of their debut record. Last night’s show is one I will be listening back to on repeat, once the audio is released. Based on how great the band played in last night’s show, I feel fans are in for a real treat tonight when Goose plays the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO.
